Arous
Founder / Stylist
A first-generation Armenian immigrant, Arous arrived in the United States at 19 with nothing but hunger and humility. She quickly made her way into the beauty industry, eventually studying under innovators and leaders like the late, well-known dry-cut master John Sahag — an apprenticeship that would define the rest of her career.
In 2012, she became the lead educator for the Sahag Dry-Cut method, traveling the country to teach seminars and masterclasses, and receiving repeated invitations to the world-renowned International Beauty Show, held annually at the Jacob Javits Center. Today, she is considered the only remaining authority on the original Dry-Cut technique, continuing to innovate and teach stylists and barbers from all corners of the world.
That authority was hard-won. In 2017, a devastating fire took one of her businesses. Rather than step back, Arous worked tirelessly to rebuild — eventually reestablishing her studio and Dry-Cut academy under one roof, a space where students could learn through real-world application alongside her worldwide clientele, many of whom travel long distances just to maintain the shapes she creates for them.
In 2020, Arous was ready to launch her boutique line of haircare and styling products. When the world had other plans, she waited — and released the line in 2021. Free of paraffins and additives, the formulas are simple and as clean as anything on the market. It was, in many ways, a fitting next chapter for someone who has always known exactly when to be patient and when to push forward.

A loving mother and wife, Shameem brings a unique warmth and compassion to our studio that is felt by every employee and client that enters our doors. No less impactful to those around her is her expertise in the Arous Drycutting Method, along with her amazing attention to detail and her exceptional grasp of color and highlights. Her endless curiosity and potential for growth and innovation is just as bright and alive as it has been throughout her multi-decade career as an ever transparent conduit of art and beauty.

Don't be fooled by his calm, reserved demeanor; Bob has a vibrant personality, and is a remarkable team player. After almost three decades of being in the hair and beauty industry, he has been able to acquire, maintain, and grow a loyal following of individuals who cannot live without his expertise in colors, cuts, and highlights, among many other services. Every client that sits in Bob's chair receives the same level of consideration, care, and detail, and though beautiful, Bob makes his work appear effortless.

Having worked in the beauty industry for over 30 years, Kristen has garnered immeasurable experience with multiple services, including mens cuts, color, and "tinsel", also known as "fairy hair". For Kristen, her pursuits in hair and beauty go far beyond "just doing hair"; Kristen is a kindred spirit, who is relentlessly invested in the relationships made during a creative career, that build the foundation of a successful artist. Along with her devotion to her art, Kristen finds solace in her cooking and baking, as do her clients. Don't be surprised if you arrive at the studio to find assorted treats or goods being offered to you — Kristen brings something different each week.

After spending nearly two decades as a hair artist, Jessi no less pursues learning and bettering her craft to the best of her ability than the day she started. Whether through cutting, coloring, or styling both men's and women's hair (to name a few things), Jessie has made it her burning passion to help people see their inner beauty. If your goal is length and/or fullness, without any compromise to your natural hair, Jessi can deliver your reality as a master of all extension methods.

Although the youngest member of our team, Blake's razor sharp intuition and natural talent for all things beauty brings high demand from all individuals who have been fortunate to work with her in any capacity. Blake has been training with Arous for almost three years in the Drycutting Method, as well as colors and highlights, and we are thrilled to announce her as one of our new up and coming stars.

Karine is indisputably the ultimate backbone, heart, and soul of our studio, and has been an irreplaceable pillar of our success since 2003. Her irreverent devotion to nothing less than perfection and her forensic approach to our studio operations are the paramount reason that our Salon still thrives and performs to our highest standards to this day. She has an endless capacity of love for our clients, and they would argue they love her even more.
